Having a low income restricts you from having certain internet services and could stop you from having broadband all together. Broadband is expensive and computers and laptops can be expensive too. When having a low income you have to budget, so if you can only just manage to pay your bills then buying a computer or laptop and paying for Internet is going to be extremely difficult. Services for the unemployed include sites such as JobCentre Plus - having no access to this service can stop people from searching for jobs daily and slow down their application process which can result in them not getting the job. This also stops them looking for a job independently.

Information and Communication Technology (ICT) can negatively affect the world by exacerbating social inequalities, as access to technology is often unevenly distributed. This digital divide can marginalize vulnerable populations, limiting their opportunities for education and employment. Additionally, increased reliance on ICT can lead to issues such as data privacy concerns, cyberbullying, and the spread of misinformation, which can harm public discourse and trust. Lastly, the environmental impact of electronic waste and energy consumption from ICT devices poses significant sustainability challenges.
