In South Australia, the application fee is $445.00, plus $63.50 for gazettal if approved. That is only a small part of the actual cost because you must publicly advertise your intention to apply for a license, pass and pay for police background and creditworthiness checks, produce detailed plans (by an architect or drafter) of the area that you wish to have licensed, get council development approval, and once you pass those and all the other hurdles you must then appear before the liquor licensing court to plead your case.
