In some businesses, it is an overhead cost and can be depreciated in accounting. Just like lights and building expenses, it is a business cost that must go into accounting. Check with an accountant about the different ways it can be a deductable expense.

What are the duties of a general manager in a cabinet making fctory?

There are many different duites. It depends on the company. As the general manager for our company, I spend a great deal of my time reviewing design or architectural drawings, reviewing the schedule for shop drawings, purchasing, manufacturing, delivery and installation of woodwork. I review work in process to insure we are meeting the quality standards that we require, whether it be in the manufacture of cabinets, engineering the construction, our finish quality or the shop drawings. Assist department managers on problem solving. Supervise all office, plant department managers and field personnel managers. The typical general manager spends time on personnel matters, such as performance reviews, hiring, counseling, terminating employment, approving personnel transfers from one department to another, initiating training programs or cross training of personnel, insuring safety procedures are followed, accident reporting, reviewing job costing performance figures, reviewing estimates, establishing procedures for each position in the company and making sure those procedures are followed. I also am involved in tracking the estimating and sales figures for our company. I meet customers and visitors and conduct tours of the company to showcase our capabilities. Review design and engineering ideas with architects and designers to meet design goals while maintaining budget constraints.

Why the ballance of the assets is always on debit side in T account?

Assets maintain a Debit balance and therefore any asset with a positive balance will be listed on the "debit" side of the account. The credit side of the T account for assets is used only to DECREASE that asset. For example Cash is an asset account and it's balance is listed on the Debit side, now your company spends "x" amount of dollars, that entry will be listed on the Credit side to decrease the cash account. If at anytime your Debit side of the asset is less than your Credit side it means that you have a LOSS. For example, you have $1,000 in your cash account and you record $1500 (credit) to the account. Your account will be listed as "OVERDRAWN" and will have a Credit Balance of $500, this of course is not acceptable. A company can never have a higher Credit balance than a Debit balance in their assets.

What does a nation have when it spends less then its income?

A surplus on the current account of its balance of payments (and a matching deficit on the capital account). These are not to be confused with fiscal surplus or budgetary surplus since they are concerned with only Government expenditure and Income. And the correct word is "than" not "then".
