I purchased a Desa Direct Vent Gas Fireplace from Menard's Home Improvement store in Casper, Wyoming, in 2008, and have been looking for a replacement blower on their website for a while, and cannot find any information on Desa. Their website opens to the homepage, but none of the hyperlinks take you anywhere. I keep reaching a dead-end everywhere on the internet.
I have had the same experience in January 2010 with a new Menards'purchase. The DESA 800 line, 866-672-6040, announces the company's bankruptcy filing in 2008, and that no warranties can be honored. Parts can be ordered from masterparts.com, or 800-446-1446, but expect similar circular announcements there.

Definitely yes! Due to the fact that the JJ Meany Company is probably the only casket manufacturer in the US which does not yet have its own website, the company has falsely been listed as inactive in several business directories. But as a matter of fact, the J. J. Meany Casket Company is still active (in 2014) and has even expanded its activities from the production of hand crafted metal caskets to wooden urns. As Meany Casket is probably the only casket manufacturer not advertising its products, perhaps some additional information on the history and activities of this unique company might be helpful.
I am an agent with Monumental Life Insurance company and am proud to say we are still here. We are now a Transamerica Company but all of Monumental's portfolio is in tact. We now offer both the Transamerica products as well as Monumental's products. That's it in a nutshell.
Yes, you do. The question would then be, to whom do you owe that debt? There could well be a new company that bought the assets, good will and debts of the company that went out of business and they will still want that money, and the charge off will still stay on your credit report, as it reflects an unpaid and ignored debt that had to be charged off. Most especially since it is a mortgage debt.In the end, you took the money for the second mortgage and you signed a legal contract to repay that money. Not withstanding that the company that paid you money for the second mortgage went out of business it is very likely that there will be a new, or possibly combined business of the old company and a new company that "owns" that debt, and they may contact you to see if an arrangement can be made to pay the debt off, (chances are very good that the company that issued the second mortgage tried repeatedly to contact you prior to charging off the debt).
