What are the disadvantages of working in a team?

In almost every situation, in which working as a team is possible, as opposed to working 'solo', the team will get more done. One quote that you will often hear, relating to this, is: two heads are better than one.

1.) The biggest disadvantage that we often find is often referred to as the 'weakest link'. Depending on the situation, the goal, and the role that your own 'weakest link' in accomplishing a task. Sometimes the challenge of having a weak link in your crew can be dealt with easily, by giving that person a select few jobs that he or she could handle, which also further your team's overall goals.

2.) Credit is not always given where it is due. Sometimes one member may receive credit for another member's work.

3.) You also will be more apt to find yourself in tense social situations, if you have to spend a large portion of your day with people selected by a boss, coach, or some other person. This can lead to a lot of stress, poor performance, apathy toward your original goal, even sabotaging of the workplace, etc. Groups of people are also prone to talking instead of working, depending on the dynamics of the group.

These are some examples of the negative impact that working in a group can have, but there are definitely more than what I have listed.
