core competency is a important business capability that gives a firm a competitive advantage. while providing wide range of products there is need of more capital and trained staff and that can be very costly as well. providing different range of products can force the business to buy new technologies and if the final product does not become popular among the customers then all the invest will go in vein.

Its better first to conduct market research first and then make the product.
