There have been 27 confirmed incidences of Great White Sharks in mallorcan waters between the 1920's and 1970's including 7 confirmed predations on marine mammals, mainly cetaceans (whales, porpoises, dolphins) and turtles since 1990.

The mediterranean has historically been a major breeding ground for Great White Sharks, the first ever documented record of sharks anywhere was by Herodotus in 492BC who described sharks (most likely Great White Sharks) attacking and "devouring" sailors, in the Med.

Unfortunately, the Med's once healthy Great White population has been in steady decline due to the increase in industrial fishing in the last 50 years and now, sightings of Great White Sharks in the Mediterranean are unfortunately rare.
