I have a tank of all male Red Wagtail Platys, they don't fight besides a little chasing, but no nipped fins. Granted, they are still fairly young and i'm not sure about adults.. I would say they wouldn't fight though.

Sometimes aggressive dogs will wag their tails. I don't know whether is subconscious or not - but I certainly believe it to be a way of communicating.
