The Caspian Sea is home to several fish species, with the sturgeon being one of the most notable. This ancient fish is particularly famous for its roe, which is processed into caviar. Other species found in the Caspian Sea include the Caspian kutum, and various types of perch and carp. The unique environment of the Caspian Sea supports a diverse aquatic ecosystem, despite its status as the largest enclosed inland body of water.
Caviar originates from Russia. It has been harvested from the Caspian and Black Seas for centuries, with the most prized varieties coming from the sturgeon fish.
The Caspian Sea is home to several species of fish, including sturgeon, which are famous for their caviar. Other notable species include the Caspian roach, shemaya, and various types of carp and perch. The unique brackish water environment of the Caspian supports a diverse range of aquatic life, although many fish populations have been affected by overfishing and environmental changes.
Caviar is related to European arid regions through the production of sturgeon, the fish whose roe is used to make caviar. Sturgeon are primarily found in the Caspian and Black Seas, which border arid regions such as the steppes of Eastern Europe and Western Asia. The arid climate of these regions contributes to the unique ecosystem in which sturgeon thrive, making them a key source of caviar production in Europe.
