Can cats eat tofu

I feed my cat raw tuna and raw salmon she loves it & knows when I have it she comes running over for a few very small pieces ----the only effect I have seen in doing so is a little weight gain, but that could also be just from a little over feeding. I talked w/my vet and he didn't say anything bad about it either....

Cats are obligate carnivores. That means that they require meat to survive. Cats have zero need for carbohydrates. They are not omnivores like us or like dogs - we can make the nutrients we need out of a variety of foods, but cats cannot do that. Cats also need taurine in their diets or they will go blind. Please feed your cat the best quality canned food that you can afford, or a diet of raw meat if you can manage it. Your cat is depending on you to feed a species-appropriate diet. To feed a cat a vegetarian diet will cause discomfort, disease, and death.
