Gum chewing is, however, a well-documented and much celebrated tool in the battle to stop smoking. Additionally, the effort exerted by you facial muscles is thought by some to help reduce double chins.

Further, gum manufacturers point to the fact that most dentists agree that the saliva generated from chewing gum helps to prevent gum disease and fight cavities. If we stretch the imagination, it is arguable that the money saved by not getting fillings for bad teeth could instead be invested in the child's education, which would hopefully make them smarter. But that's a feeble argument at best.
