As far as I've ever been told through internet research, etc, the toxic mold aflatoxin can grown in corn and peanuts. So while peanut butter may not seem obviously moldy to the eyes, it can contain this aflatoxin, the same way corn products do. That is probably the strongest reason why both are highly allergenic foods.
It depends upon the mold, so don't eat moldy peanut butter.
2weeks we are doing a science project to see which molds faster, peanut butter or jelly. After 4 weeks, there is NO mold.
Peanut butter has a natural preservative in it. It does not need to be refrigerated. It will keep for months out of the refrigerator. How about "natural" peanut butter? I read that there is a cancer-causing mold in peanut butter, and if left un-refrigerated, can grow?
They get the mold for the chocolate and pour in about 1/3 full. Then they add the peanut butter, making the mold 2/3 full. Finally they add a top layer of chocolate to make the mold 3/3 full. YUM! I love Reeses cups - thanks for asking! God bless!

No. Peanut butter has no poisons in it unless it was the one that was recalled recently. The one recalled came from a peanut place in Georgia, USA because that recalled peanut butter was recalled because of Salmonella. Another possible problem with improperly processed peanut butter could be mycotoxins. If the peanuts aren't grown and handled properly, mold could grow on the peanuts and form mycotoxins. Some mycotoxins are known to cause cancer.
