Hamsters sometimes 'nip', if your hand smells of their food, they may test it gently, however as soon as they realise it's not food, they will stop. This doesn't really hurt, there's no force behind the bite.

A true hamster bite is deep and painful. Hamsters have two pairs of long incisors, easily capable of sinking into flesh.
