While hermit crabs do need heat, a heat rock is not a very good solution. Hermit Crabs can and will overheat themselves on a heat rock. A heat rock can get up to 100+ degrees, which is WAY to hot for a hermit crab. A better solution is to use an under tank heater pad, and mount it on the side of the tank. 2 small pads covering a corner is even better.
You should make sure and have a cool side and warm side for your hermit crabs. Maintain about 80 degrees f on the warm side, and about 70 degrees f on the cool side and your hermit crab should be just fine. Keep the humidity at above 75% as well.
They both have legsthey are crab
Hermit crabs can be found pretty much anywhere, they can be found on beaches, especially in rock pools.
They both are crabs right?
the hermit crabs come from the carribean sea they live on sea caves or a sea rock wall!
First, you'll need saltwater and fresh water, the crabs will like to have a net or rock of some sort to climb and play on, they also like a separate dish for their food. Hermit crab toys are available in a local pet store. A coconut cut in half and a doorway will do perfectly for a house and hiding spots for your hermit crab.
In rock pools you can find starfish, sea cucumbers and hermit crabs. You can also find lots of mini fish but not clown fish.
rock crabs are type of crabs.
A hermit crab uses the old shell of another sea animal (ex. snail). I true crab uses its own natural shell. A hermit crab makes its home in a snail shell or anything really. It has a soft abdomen that is very vulnerable to the outside and can be smooshed easily almost like a caterpillars skin. So it hides its back end in a protective covering. A regular crab already has its own exoskeleton that is hard and durable so they don't need a shell to protect them. Also, regular crabs live in the water a majority of the time and a hermit crab can either be completely dependent on water, these are called saltwater hermit crabs who live like a fish at the bottomof the ocean, or you have a typical land hermit crab that lives on the beaches and sometimes even a mile off shore. They do not need a large amount of water or food to survive. These are the crabs you find in the pet store in the fancy painted shells.
No. Hermit crabs and sea anemones have a symbiotic relationship that is not the typical prey/predator relationship of most organisms.
well i have 2 hermit crabs named charlie and kiwi, and i have tried everything to try and get them into the shelter... i have tried containers, rock shelters, small plant and even the old peels off of an orange. they never seemed to like them... until i tried a cocoa nut hut!!! you can buy them from pet stores and they come in all sizes, they are half of a cocoa nut with a little door cut in it my crabs love it and it also keeps them warm
Train on the Rock Crabs which are in Relekka or train on Experiments which are better (double xp of rock crabs) but you need to of done the quest: Creature of Frenkenstrain to train at them.
I love playing with hermit crabs so i know. First you should know that they LOVE to climb so make a obstcale corse with rock and other stuff. Make a small pool for them but make it small so they don't drown. Have fun!!!!!!!!!!! :)
