potatoes grow better in the sun. Their leaves, and produce is definitely better when under sun light.
But if growing them in shade is the only way out, then go ahead, you'd still get something out of it. But just don't expect your produce to be as good as those plants' grown under sunlight . So, if possible grow them in the sun for best results. If not possible, grow them in the shade, and be satisfied with poor to mediocre results.
On another note, potatoes like acidic soil. And make sure the soil is never water-logged or overly moist. Water-logged soil is enough to ruin all your efforts, as this will lead to all sorts of diseases to party up within your seed potatoes. This will put all your hard work to waste, as the produce that you would get would account for almost nothing.
If possible cut and mix pine leaves into the soil 2-3 weeks before planting your seed potatoes. In addition to potatoes loving acidic soil, the diseases that attack them, find a pH level of 5.2 unsuitable. Potatoes are not too picky about the soil they're grown in, though. Seed early, if you're a beginner. Because you will definitely make mistakes, by most probably over-watering, or something else. So plant early, so that you have time to make up for you mistakes (which you will definitely make on your first attempt. Don't give up hope though).
Additionally, "Google" layering potato plants. In laymans terms, it basically means to cover the growing plantwith soil once it reaches around a foot. This way the plant is fooled into having to grow again. In essence leaving layers of new tubers, everytime you "layer the plant. You can use this process 3-4 times, depending upon how long your growing season is.
the potatoes think they are underground and start growing to reach the light.
i believe that the potato will sprout in the
light ....i tested it and that's what happened.....
It grows in the dark, I didnt find out why yet though, we did it for school I'm doing my report now.

All plants need water, light, and air.So obviously, light influences potatoes because it helps them grow and get energy (a.k.a~food)
Russet potatoes produce sprouts in the dark because when they are exposed in the light to much they will turn green...
eww[:
yes...all things that grow grow in light.
by having your mom hump then
Light
they produce protons and electrons they are collition then the light produce and heat produce
In response to external conditions and internal biochemistry can be considered the time when sprouts open. The timing depends upon the sprout in question. It also responds to the particular configuration of specific air, heat, light, and moisture conditions.
does fire produce light
Yes . . . if you have both light and warmth sprouts can be grown in a glass jar or 'sprout growing' container (available from any Health Food Shop).
Yes, accually potatoes are a very good conductor of electricity.
they produce protons and electrons they are collition then the light produce and heat produce
The moon does not produce light. It only reflects light from the sun.
No. Light bulbs produce non-polarized light.
it gives strong light highlights to your hair, boiled and peeled potatoes.
No. Mixing the two will not produce light.
Wouldn't you like to know
Potatoes, like lemons, have a small amount of acid that conducts electricity, but only for a very small light bulb Potatoes, like lemons, have a small amount of acid that produces eletricity for a very small light source.
