I found a recently dead (still smelled pretty bad) fiddler crab on the beach in front of my condo (Daytona area) this morning (sept 20, 2010). The body was at least 3 inches across and the big claw extended about 6 inches from the body. I had eaten a one pound lobster the day before and the fiddler's claw was almost as large as the lobster. I took a picture of the thing, Maybe I can up load it.... No, evidently not.
I did some research and found out that they can dig upto 12 inches deep not sure if they can dig deeper
