How did Islam started?

Answer 1Some verses claim that the 'prophet' Muhammad was the first Muslim. For example, "He hath no associate. This am I commanded, and I [Muhammad] am the first of the Muslims." S. 6:163

At other times the Qur'an states Moses to be the first Muslim. "And Moses fell down senseless. And when he woke he said: Glory unto Thee! I turn unto Thee repentant, and I am the first of (true) believers." Sura 7:143.

And at other times Adam, Abraham and Jesus (all born before Muhammad) were claimed to be the first Muslims.

Because of the many contradictions in Qur'anic sources it can only be assumed that Islam started with Muhammad's claims of revelations in the 7th Century AD.

Answer 2Islam started when Man first stepped foot on the earth. Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was not the founder of Islam, but rather the final and seal of the Prophethood. Fundamental message of all the Prophets (pbut) was the same, i.e., "There is only one God, Worship him alone."

The religion of Islam was created with the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him). It is said that the Prophet was meditating in a cave outside of Makkah and while meditating, the angel Gabriel descended from Jannah (Paradise) and told the Prophet to recite the Qur'an (Koran), but Muhammad (pbuh) said that he was illiterate and Gabriel ordered him to recite and Muhammad (pbuh) started to preach the Qur'an. When Muhammad (pbuh) returned to Makkah (Mecca) the polithiestic tribal leaders forced him and his believers out of Makkah. After the Muslim armies of Medina defeated the polithiests in Makkah and Muhammad (pbuh) rededicated the Ka'aba to Allah. islam with a small "i" is a concept that comes out of Islam with a capital "I" and projects the Established Religion of Islam back into the period before would have identified as Muslim. The purpose of said belief, in a functional sense, is to gird Islam in the history afforded by the Judeo-Christian prophetic lineage and ensure its authenticity. islam also affords the believer in Islam a continuity of tradition which Mohammed only continued and corrected as opposed to having the religion of Islam be an affront or disagreement with other divinely-inspired religions. Since islam is derivative of Islam, it does not actually exist prior to Islam.

Islam, as an Established Religion, was organized and directed by Mohammed, who was born in 570 C.E. at Mecca, in Saudi Arabia. According to Islam, he received revelations from God in Mecca in from the year 610-632 C.E. He was supported by several family members like his uncle Ali Ibn Talib and his first wife Khadija to pursue these prophecies. He converted other members to his nascent religion before being expelled from Mecca to Yethrib (now known as Medina) in 622 C.E. When Mohammed became the Chief Hakam or Judge/Administrator of Yethrib, he received many new revelations and began to ask members of his community to memorize these revelations (along with prior ones). These memorizers (in Arabic Hafeths) would eventually be responsible for the creation of one unified Qur'an. By Mohammed's death, he had conquered all of Arabia and converted most of Arabia to his new faith, establishing the grounds for an Islamic Caliphate, which succeeded him.
