This works for me! I work out the surface area of the tin the recipe tells me to us. I then work out the surface area for the tin I would like to use. Then I work out the percentage difference between the areas of the two tins and multiply my ingredients by the same amount. For example if the recipe tells me to use an 8" square tin but I have a 10". The surface area of the 8" is 8x8=64 and for the 10" - 10x10=100. The difference is 100-64=36. I am not over precise so would say it is approx. a 50% difference from the 8". This would mean I have to mulply all my ingredients by 0.5.
