How do you know when a Betta is ready to mate?

it is ready to mate when it has bars not stripes, stripes mean there in stress but they look like this ------ on the side of the betta , bars look like this I I I I on the side of the betta. if you have a betta that is light colored , you could tell by there big belly and the white dot is more bigger.

people say that betta breeding is expensive because it is they go up to 600 frys (babies) , i say " just let those people do want to do". and i also heard that not all will survive. also if you want to sell them, i will say get a breed that is expensive not a veil tail because there the most cheepest. (i have a crown tail and ill breed her, so get rid of the divider or put them in the same tank (at least a 1 gallon), ALSO make sure you put several plants in so your female betta could hide from the male for a little. TAKE OUT FEMALE BETTA AFTER BREEDING OR THE MALE BETTA WILL KILL HER.

Hey there, Almost anytime females are ready to mate. The temp and water conditions have to be reasonably good but the only down side is that u might have to go thru a couple of females to get the right one for breeding. If it doesnt work out the first time, take the female out immediately before war breaks out lol. And place her in another tank. Several females can be kept in one tank as long as they arnt over crowded. But for heaven sake dont mix males lol. And make sure ur male is ready too, for expamle when he starts to make a bubble nest up at the waters surface. I learnt this from working at an aquarium for a few years. Got any more questions? In an aquarium setting they can breed year round. In the wild they usually breed earily in the rainy season in mid spring.

Some females can be very cheaky.... My Betta ,She is a little over a year and she takes up to a month to be ready to spawn with a male betta. she fights with the male and nips at him the he trys to embrace her but she refuses.... All female bettas are different in my eyes.
Ideally about every 28 days. some breeders ahve benn able to condition and get their Bettas to breed in half that time, but that comes with experience.
