The is no real "safe" way to do this short of separating the young from the "older".

You are going to get pecking order squabbles no matter what you do. Just make sure the young ones have a place to run to when the feathers hit the fan. I provide a limited access shelter in the coop that the older birds cannot fit into, when the young one's get chased, they hide. Eventually, everything gets sorted out.

What age can you give chicks worms?

Bugs and earthworms can be digested by chicks right away, as soon as they start foraging in the yard with the mother hen. This is usually about week two or three. These are treats and should never be the sole source of nutrition for chicks as the protein levels will cause problems. Start your chicks on a chick starter feed at least for the first few weeks of life whenever possible. Even free range hens will do better when given a good start and they will supplement that with whatever they find in the farmyard.

How long should you allow 2 mature hens to get used to the third mature hen introduced before you know it won't work?

I believe it is best if you dont introduce just one hen. there is a better chance of introducing two hens that know each other to another two hens which know each other. that way the hens you had alredy will not pick on the new hen. And i am not sure how long i would wait but it may take at least a few weeks. I had the same problem not too long ago!what you should do is put the third hen in a small cage inside the hutch/cage that you have the other hens in. only leave the third hen in there for a week at most! make sure that the other hens can see her! this will help in that the other two hens will get used to seeing her with them and then after the week release the 3rd hen with the othe hens ! they should get a long! good luck

How does napoleon react when the hens rebel against his orders?

Can 7 week old chicks stay with grown chickens?

It is generally not recommended to house 7-week-old chicks with fully-grown chickens, as the size and maturity differences can lead to aggression and potential harm to the chicks. It is best to wait until the chicks are closer in size to the adult chickens before integrating them into the same coop. Providing a separate area or enclosure for the chicks to grow and gradually introducing them to the adult flock can help ensure a smoother transition.

What are point of lay chickens?

These are pullets or young chickens that are raised by the hatcheries to near time to produce the first eggs. Hatcheries provide food and protection through the first three months of a chicks life so the farmer who orders them does not have to. Point of lay hens command higher prices than new chicks and are costlier to ship. Farmer who order these hens expect them to start laying eggs within a week or two of arrival at the farm.
