How do you take care of a crawfish?

you can feed it algae wafers, leftover corn, feeder goldfish and/or mineos(xs depending on the size of the crawdad), and some will eat little bits of meat. I feed mine xs goldfish and algae wafers. these are the type of food i feed mine in the past.I breed them, i should know.

You eat crayfish as shrimp or prawns. Peel them and remove the heads, then saute, deep fry, boil, grill, bar-b-que, bake, etc. with whatever spices, sauces, or marinades please you.

However, notably in the US state of Louisiana, it is popular to boil live crayfish in a broth and then eat them out of the shells by hand. Once cooked, the head separates from the tail with a little twist. Bite the exposed tailmeat and pinch on the far end. The meat should pull out cleanly. You may also suck the cooked fatty tissue from the head, but this is subject to personal preference. The peeled tails are used like cooked shrimp in many recipes.

Crawdads are diligent scavengers and are normally protected by most fish by their hard exterior exoskeleton. However, proper hides for the crawdad is need for when molting it is very unprotected and even small fish can cause it harm or even death. Food that sinks to the bottom often serves as food for the crawdad and even died or dying fish become meals for them. Sinking shrimp pellets are an excellent food source for them. It is easy to breed them in the home aquarium though the male needs to be isolated from the egg carrying female afterwards and the babies or mother needs to be moved after hatching.
