Benecol contains sterol esters to help lower your cholesterol. Smart Balance uses a patented blend of fats to help lower bad cholesterol.
Some cholesterol-free margarine options available in the market include Earth Balance, Smart Balance, and Country Crock Plant Butter.
No!!! Never ever ever ever purchase Benecol! The second ingredient on the list is PARTIALLY HYDYOGENATED SOYBEANOIL and it dares claim itself to be a healthy product? You would be better off eating butter! I just ate two tbsp of that crap because I, for one time, didn't read the label before the purchase and I resent it deeply now I am going to throw up what I just ate this morning. BAN BENECOL!!!! VERY VERY VERY BAD FOR YOU!
It depends on many factors - such as branded versus supermarket's own. It also varies from store to store. However, the range that ASDA sells range from... 88p for a 500g tub of their 'Smart Price' brand (18p per 100g) up to £3.48 for a 500g tub of Benecol Buttery (70p per 100g).
Smart Balance was created in 2005.

Most margarine contains trans fat, making it very "un"heart healthy. When you go to the grocery store, check the labels and look for something without any hydrogenated oils in the ingredient list and with low saturated fat. That will pretty much get you a heart healthy butter-type spread. I use Smart Balance :)
Smart Balance has recently had some great coupons. I have liked the coupons for Smart Balance butter a long with the sales that Publix has had lately.
There are two separate schools of thought on this, even in the medical profession. Butter is a more natural substance, but it contains saturated fats. Butter is known to increase both HDL (good cholesterol) and LDL (bad cholesterol). Margarine is made from vegetable oil, so it does not contain cholesterol. However, traditional margarine contains trans-fats to help firm the product. Trans-fats will raise your LDL. So, even though it does not contain cholesterol, it has a negative effect on how your body processes it. The American Heart Association says to go for the newer trans-fat free spreads (which are not as firm as butter or margarine) with low saturated fats. Many of the new spreads contain plant sterols, which can have positive effects on your HDL and LDL cholesterol levels. Smart Balance, Blue Bonnet Light, Country Crock Churn Style, Benecol, Promise, and Parkay are examples of these. No matter which you choose, use them sparingly.
It says right on the cover-"do not freeze" It states not to freeze the "Light Buttery Spread" version only. All other Buttery Spreads are OK to freeze. I stay away from freezing all Smart Balance products. Quote from website: Most Smart Balance® Buttery Spreads and all Smart Balance® Butter Blend Sticks can be frozen until the "best by" date printed on the packages. Smart Balance® Light Buttery Spread varieties should not be frozen due to their lower fat content.
In this website : http://forthemommas.com/coupons/new-smart-balance-coupons there are many coupons for Smart Balance. They are pretty good deals, so get your printer running!
Yes Smart Balance coupons are long dated. They have a very late expiration on them when you get them.
