How long must the tap water sit before using it to change a Betta fish tank?

AnswerJust be sure the temperatures are the same IF you are using a tap water dechlorinator. Letting it sit 30 minutes will do or you could play with the water temperature until it is the same.

However, if you do NOT have any tap water dechlorinator, then let the water sit for 48 hours (or at least 24 hours) to get rid of the chlorine and other harmful chemicals in the tap water.

well i just got my betta and am already an "expert" lolsz well the store i bought my betta from petco and they gave me a care sheet in this care sheet it tells you do a complete water change for small bowls (less than 2 gallons)once or twice weekly (but i recomend u do it every 3 days for a less than 2 gallon bowl or w.e);in larger aquariums change 10-25% of the total volume of the water every two to four weeks, or more often as needed even dough i got a 2 gallon and i change it every five days

I do it right away. Once a month I clean his tank fully, all gravel, plants, decorations come out. I scoop Craig up with a plastic cup-then using hot water clean everything, change the filter, rearrange the tank, add water about 1/2 filled with clean, conditioned water, add Craig and then put filter in and fill up tank. Of course, the water has been getting ready for 24 hours.

Every week I take out about 1/2 and replace it with above but, do not change filter.
