The recommended daily intake of salt varies by individual needs and dietary guidelines, but generally, the American Heart Association suggests limiting sodium intake to about 2,300 milligrams per day, ideally reducing it to 1,500 milligrams for optimal heart health. Celtic sea salt, which contains trace minerals, should not significantly exceed these sodium limits. It's important to consider all dietary sources of sodium, not just added salt, when determining daily intake. Always consult with a healthcare professional for personalized recommendations.
Adults should eat no more than 6g of salt a day. Children should have even less.6g of salt is about a teaspoonful.

Salt is needed in order for our body to transfer nerve impulses and many other things. On average, our body needs around 1 to 2 grams of salt per day. But if we get to much salt, our kidneys start to secrete too much sodium which in turn produces the hormone, Renin. Renin makes our body hold on to moisture. The result of this is a dramatic rise in blood pressure.

You need about 350lbs of salt, but add slowly, over a period of a few day so you don't put too much in as it's very hard to get rid of salt in water.

The US FDA website says: "The Dietary Guidelines recommend that the general population consume no more than 2,300 milligrams of sodium a day (about a teaspoon of table salt)." That's what recommended. You asked how much is "normal per day". Many people eat far more salt than that. Remember that almost all processed and canned foods have added salt and that has to be included in the teaspoon of salt described above.
