Well it depends what type of hamster you want- if you want a syrian hamster; they are about $10-$25 dollars at Petco; but if you want a dwarf hamster they are about $6-$25 dollars. Then again, Syrian hamsters are on the first level of being endangered so you have to take great carefor them. But if you just want one to have as a great pet, Dwarf Hamsters are better. In my opinion Dwarf Hamsters are better. Hope this helped!
I had this exact problem with one of my hamsters. This is serious and can cause the hamster a lot of pain. It is likely the hamster will need to be put down. You need to take the hamster to the vets as soon as possible, as it is not fair to keep it alive under such circumstances.
get rid of your hamster and get a new one NO DONT LISTEN TO THE ONE THAT SAYS, "get rid of your hamster and get a new one" YOU TAKE YOUR HAMSTER TO THE VET IMMEADIATELY!!! IT COULD BE A UTI. UTI could be fatal to a hamster's life. In the meantime after you make the vet appointment, try giving your hamster some water by a dropper because they could be dehydrated. UTI is very painful to hamsters so don't handle it often and keep it comfortable. Make sure the room tempature is comfortable for the hamster. And make sure it has fresh food and water. The hamster may be a little sluggish and not move around much but that is only because it is tired and in pain.
the best cage for a hamster (if you have a cat) would be a plastic one not a wire cage. but still keep the cage away from your cat as much as you can so the cat doesn't knock it over or something.
One quite simple way is to take the hamster to a vet if you would like to spend the money to keep him alive.
If you want to. But if you do they MIGHT kill the babies or take over and care for the other hamster's babies.
Well that depends if it was due to disease take her to the vet and do what he tells you to do. If she lost it in a fight take her to the vet and keep her away from other hamsters
No!They'll fight to death! NEVER put 2 differnent types of hamsters in one cage NEVER!
take it to the vet... please... Edit: My friend's hamster had babies, and she was holding one and it jumped out of her hand. It fell about 3 feet, and broke its back and died. I would be extremely cautious not to disturb your hamster, and do take it to a small animal vet.
The ideal size for a hamster cage housing three hamsters is at least 2 square feet. Hamsters are fairly compact creatures and generally do not need too much room to survive and be content.
if you buy yogurt treats from petco then you take one or two ou and set it there then sit there and watch it from a distance the smeel will get to the hamster and it will usually look for it then when it eats it grab it and then you have found your hamster
I'm sure your hamster drinks water, you just don't see. Dwarf hamsters are quite small, so they don't need to drink that much. But if she really isn't drinking yes, you need to take him/her to a vet. It will cost about 30 dollars
It might be an abcess or a cancerous growth so if your hamster has one take it to he vet immediately to find out what is the problem
