I have had several batches of Chicken & Dumplings spoil. My experience is to NOT put the dumplings in the fridge until they are room temperature. Also, do not leave them in a crockpot while they cool. The crockpot tends to hold the heat longer. If you have a large batch, I would split them into two smaller pots. I don't know why this happens, but it is a heart breaker after all of the mess and hard work that is put into the dumplings.
