If an orange is orange why isn't a lime called a green or a lemon called a yellow?

BananasYellow was already taken back in the Western days by a coward, it was given to him by an angry gunslinger wanting a gun fight. It wouldn't have been right to have called him a banana if he turned to run. Orange you glad you asked?

We don't call things by their color because if we did, everything that was yellow would be called "yellows." When someone would say "I want a yellow," we wouldn't know if they wanted a banana or if they wanted a pencil.

Because the person who discovered an orange was too stupid to think of a name he or she just called it an orange true story.

The answer is because the person found out the colour 'orange' first so named it orange whereas the lemon was named before the the colour yellow was made.

oranges were called oranges before the color orange was named. that is probably why. there is no other explanation. they are just called oranges.
