Any artificial sweetener can have its hazards, but one would need to consume very large amounts of it over a long period of time, for there to be any real dangers. Sugar Twin contains saccharin, which has been shown to cause cancer in lab animals, but they were force-fed disproportionate amounts of it. Aspartame (aka NutraSweet) contains phenylalanine, which can build up in the bodies of people with phenylketonuria, which is a metabolic disorder, and cause mental retardation and other problems over time. Cyclamates were taken off the market in the United States because of cancer concerns (and ironically replaced with saccharin in most places), but are still available in Canada. Stevia (a natural product) is available as a "food supplement" in the US, but cannot yet be marketed as a sweetener, pending FDA approval as one.
