I would keep your aquarium very clean! If its under 5 Gallons I would clean it everyday. If it is bigger then 5 gallons then I would clean it twice a week to help prevent infection. You can also add 1tsp of aquarium salt to 5 gallons of water to speed healing and help ease the fish, also to prevent infection. I wouldn't worry to much about your fish I would just make sure to keep the tank clean and keep a good eye on your fish.
