The United States. We have more corn than almost all other nations combined. Corn capitol of the universe!

Unfortunately, food producers discovered that corn syrup was cheaper than good ole' honest sugar, and so they started putting high-fructose corn syrup in our food. I mean, they put it in almost EVERYTHING. It's considerably difficult to find something that does NOT have high fructose corn syrup in it. It's not really good for you, and very fattening. They fatten us all up like a herd of cattle, and then they start screeching about how we're all obese. Maybe if they'd start producing REAL FOOD again, the way they used to...

Is there any difference between corn syrup and corn flour?

Yes, corn syrup is a sweet liquid - it's the same as glucose syrup. Whereas cornflour is a white powder (used for thickening sauces), and is not sweet in the same way that corn syrup is. Corn syrup is entirely sugar based (like molasses), whereas corn flour is a flour. Corn syrup and corn flour are not interchangable, (in the same way that you would not substitute honey for wheatflour).

Does corn syrup affect you?

Yes and no. Corn syrup is extremely high in sugar, and large quantities consumed over large periods of time can contribute, cause or exacerbate diabetes. Second, the type of corn syrup contained in most junk foods is high-fructose corn syrup. No credible studies have seriously examined the effect of massive quantities of fructose on the human body. And finally, no: there is no real evidence that moderate consumption of corn syrup directly leads to any negative medical condition.

Does corn oil float on water?

No, corn syrup is thicker than water so it will stay at the bottom. Example: you pour a glass of water and decide which liquid is the thickest for a Science project. So you try it out and corn syrup will most likely end up on the bottom depending on the other liquids used. But Corn Syrup beats water 10/10 times
