Very few cultures do not allow chocolate to be eaten. Some events (like Lent, for example) promote gicing up chocolate or other "treats" or "sins" or "pleasures" for a period of time in place of religious observance. Some traditions, such as Buddhism, do not favor material goods or wealth, so they may sometimes find chocolate an "un-necessary" additive to a person's diet.
