Decomposers are bacteria or fungus which consumes or feeds off the dead remains of the plant or animal. They help to bring back nutrients from the organism to soil i.e Earth which is useful for plants.

And cycle goes on and on, animal eats plant and they nutrients come back into soil.

It fits at the end of the food web, right before the producers.

Decomposers play a very important role in the food web as they are responsible for the recycling of all the nutrients and they put these nutrients back into the earth/soil for plants to use. (They basically recycle all dead matter for plants to grow. Next, the consumers will eat the plants, and the secondary consumers will eat the tertiary consumers. Later, they all eventually die and this is where the decomposers come in to 'recycle' all the dead matter, which is used again by plants and put back in the food web in the form of nutrients, etc, etc... it goes on and on and on in a circle)

hope that helped :D

Decomposers make nitrogen that is used by plants. Plants use nitrogen to produce protein and nucleic acids. They absorb the nitrogen through the roots.

No. Producers make their own food. Decomposers feed on dead material and waste.

Near the bottom, above the producers (eg. trees) for that is what they decompose, so there must be something below them.

Decomposers, such as fungi and some bacteria, use waste products (feces) from other organisms and other the dead bodies of other organisms as food.
