How much grain does a horse eat in a year?

The amount of grain a horse eats varies from horse to horse. So giving a hard answer to this can be hard. However it is widely accepted that a horses diet should never consist of more than 50% grains or concentrates(Pelleted feeds are safer and better for horses than straight grains like oats or corn.) So if you have a 1,000 pound horse and he gets 20 pounds of feed daily, then 50%( or less )would be 10 pounds( or less )of grains. so 10 x 365 = 3650 (again or less) of grains a year. It is however recommended that you never feed that much grain to a horse on a daily basis.
