The lump is most probably and ulcer or cyst. This problem is common when the owner has not been looking after the fishes water conditions properly. A Bettas water needs to be changed daily or more often depending on how small the container is that the Betta is kept in. Although (through lack of correct information) many people keep Bettas in small containers (jars) they should really be kept in at least 2 gallons of water. Contrary to general belief their water should also be filtered, and heated to a minimum of 70F.

Win what? be more specific. If you mean in a territorial dispute, an adult fighting fish will get eaten (literally) by and adult convict cichlid. but if the cichlid and the fighting fish are of the same size then the fighting fish would be at an advantage.
It may be due to collection of fluid- seroma or pus if infected. It can also mean that the hernia has recurred again.
It might meen that your betta fish is about to lay eggs.
青いベタ /a oi be ta/ would mean 'blue betta/fighting fish' in Japanese.
If things go belly up, they have failed. Think of a dead fish ... It means that something goes badly wrong. It can also mean to step up, as to a bar -- the image is to put your belly next to something.
There is no fighting fish that comes from China. Someone told you a wrong name. The correctly named "Betta splendens" also commonly called the "Siamese fighting fish" comes from the jungles and rice paddies of tropical Asia and needs constantly warm water around 78F and could not survive without heaters in icy cold China. If by "lump" you mean something that looks like a thickening along one or more of the rays of its tail (caudal) fin. This is usually scar tissue caused by the fish having had its tail damaged/ripped at some stage in its life.
Well, I don't know for sure... But it is animal cruelty! How would you like to fight to the death for someone else's please! Please THINK and USE your BRAIN. p.s. I have a betta named Frodo lol.
Most pet shops that stock tropical fish will be able to get you a female 'Betta splendens'. (that's its' correct name). I would advise you not to use the name 'Chinese fighting fish' 'Cos they may not know what kind of fish you mean since they do not come from China. If you really want to call it a 'Fighting Fish' then use the name 'Siamese Fighting Fish'. Most folks will understand that.
a fat lump
The fish is scared so he vomits up his food as a sort of shield from the outside world. Stay away from your fish at first
What does it mean if you have lumps on your ribs
