this is completely normal, especially if he/she is new. They are in a new area with a lot of new scents so they are curious and about it. it is like the same reason a dog would sniff a bed before sitting in it. they are just "checking it out"
Sounds like your pet may be ill. A trip to the vet may be in order.
Place it in. If it bite were gloves
It depends what breed of hamster. Most just find a place to settle and stay and others like to move around to live and make a house.
If you see the hamster looking and nibbling for a place to get out, then they want to get out. I found this answer because my own hamster escaped. 
Just how reliable does a hamster toy need to be?
Your haur keeps your hair in place as it is imbedded into your brain!
You should put your hamster in a safe place, or have someone else hold it for you. If you have a hamster ball, let your hamster exercise in that while cleaning out it's bedding.
Immediately put your hamster in a warm place or cuddle him/her in your warmest blanket!
to catch a lost hamster, you don't need a hamster trap. You can just get a bucket, put some strong-smelling food inside that fills at least a quatre of the bucket. Place a ramp or a ladder of some sort so that the hamster will smell the food, climb up the ramp/ladder, and will fall in but can't get out again. This won't hurt the little hamster at all.
Pet Smart.
yes
Not really, they won't try to kill each other. I tried it because I had a mouse and a hamster but only one cage. I figured why not? Well, they didn't try to kill each other. It's just that the hamster, Nibbles, keeps stealing Lionel's (mouse) place. Like when Lionel was on the wheel, Nibbles tried to steal his place. Which lead to fighting. So it's alright if you put them together in a cage. Just remember to monitor them so the hamster doesn't try anything funny. But yeah, you can put a mouse in a hamster cage.
