The 14th Amendment of the Constitution of the United States has three main clauses that provide the following :

  1. The Citizenship Clause - This clause provides citizenship rights to African Americans.
  2. Due Process - This clauses requires all governments within the United States (City and State) follow a certain set of specific steps in order to deprive anyone of Life, Liberty or Property.
  3. The Equal Protection Clause - This clause required the states to provide equal legal protection to all people within their jurisdiction.

The 14th Amendment also had several specific clauses to do with Confederate officials, and the Confederacy, but did not otherwise provide rights.
