Low carbohydrate fruit such as berries are best. However, you will still need to consider the quantity. Every one is different, particularly if you are a non-insulin-dependant diabetic. The safest way is to be guided by your blood glucose meter. In other words, eat according to your meter! Better to be safe than sorry.
Carbs are now what is counted more than sugar. Due to the high risk of Heart disease associated with Diabetes the skin of the fruit is important. All fruits should be considered a high sugar content (risk) and eaten in moderation. Due to the high skin to flesh ratio, grapes may be a good choice for some diabetics (but certainly not for others). Citrus fruit is another good example for a high fiber choice (but will not suit some diabetics). Probably the one of the least beneficial fruit would be a banana they are a high carb/sugar low fiber choice. Just remember moderation is the best approach for all fruit choices.
As said before, eat according to your meter!
