Aleoli
The alveoli are attached to the terminal bronchioles, which branch from the respiratory bronchioles in the respiratory tree. These structures are part of the lower respiratory tract, where gas exchange occurs. The alveoli are small, balloon-like sacs at the end of the bronchial tree, surrounded by capillaries, facilitating the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide.
This tissue is simple squamous, a type of epithelium. It is the thinnest tissue, one cell thick, since gases are exchanged in the aleoli and capillaries surrounding them.
Spread out flat, all the air sacs in the lungs of an adult would cover an bubbles or sacs called aleoli. Spread out flat, all the air sacs in the lungs of an adult would cover an area about the third of a tennis court. here are some extra facts. source is at bottom. Factoids • Your lungs contain almost 1500 miles of airways and over 300 million alveoli. • Every minute you breathe in 13 pints of air. • Plants are our partners in breathing. We breathe in air, use the oxygen in it, and release carbon dioxide. Plants take in carbon dioxide and release oxygen.
