  • Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup cold water
  • 4 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • 5 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 4 tablespoons prepared mustard
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter

Directions: Put all ingredients except the butter in a blender, and blend until smooth. Pour into thetop pan of a double boiler, and cook over gently boiling water. As the sauce begins to heat, add the butter, stirring well. Cook, stirring often for 12-15 minutes, until sauce becomes thick. Refrigerate for several hours before using.
