You will need at least 15 chickens in prime laying condition and of a breed that lays daily. To ensure 15 eggs per day you would be best to have a flock of 20 hens, all between 8 and 18 months old. Check the related link below for breeds that produce up to one egg per day.
It's different for every chicken, as well as different breeds. The average age is 6 months (this also applies for a rooster crowing) My hen laid her first egg about 6 months and 1 week. It also depends on the climate. It might take them longer to lay their first egg if they're in the cold.

No. Chickens won't hunt, sit, roll over, or beg - BUT They are catching on fast as both an urban and suburban pet. Called the pet that "gives back", chickens lavish affection on you like a dog might, but, unlike most pets, chickens give you eggs! There are sites dedicated to chickens as pets (although it is not a recognized catagory on Wiki yet) - I like the link in the related links, which not only states "Chickens ARE the new Dog"! But sells a wide range of chicken-related items for the birds and pet lovers alike. Do you know they actually sell diapers for chicken owners in apartments?
The colour of the chicken's ear lobes is an indicator of the color of eggs they lay. All egg shells start out white with the end colour being dictated by pigments deposited whilst the eggs are being formed. When an egg has just been laid and is still damp you can rub off the colour, but as soon as it has dried no amount of scrubbing or washing will remove it. Although eggs come in colours such as white, cream, brown and even blue, nutritionally they are all the same. The chicken that lays the white egg is a white star. wigglywigglers.blogspot.com/2008/04/chick-chi...
