Hamsters, like many smaller animals, typically have relatively high heart rates and respirations. On average, a hamster will have around 75 breaths per minute.
Its nervous or upset. Thats what mine does.
buy a new hamster
It may be excited. Most small animals breath rapidly when they are being held or if you are reaching out for them. It's not bad or contagious but if your hamster is breathing unevenly, bring it to the vet immediately!
Because hamsters are very fat and clumsy, and mice are quick and not (very) fat, I think a mouse would be faster.
I believe that both men and women breath at the same pace.
You should jog at a pace that allows you to speak but you shouldn't be able to say complete sentences without taking a breath.
