I Know there not so keen to lay when there malting - maybe its the food. if your giving MASH food when its not sunny and leave it - Change it. If your giving them PELLETS they should be fine. Or maybe its your breed of chicken. some only lay 60- eggs a year (Mainly Bantams and breeds like that). Or she's just getting old - 7-8 years is old for a chicken!
That would be a hen that lays eggs, or one that is used for laying eggs as opposed to one raised to be fattened and eaten.
Some roosters will try for a few days or weeks after she stops laying but will find it is not worth the effort, pain and suffering he will endure. The non laying hen will not cooperate and will fight.

The hen lays the egg. The term "hen" refers to a female chicken, and it is the female that is responsible for laying eggs.
It is normal for a laying chicken to not lay eggs for a few days. A hen needs time to rest.
You can not stop this, it is a normal thing that they do. If y7ou do not want the eggs then remove them and throw them in the trash. Eventually the hen will stop laying.
Resting a hen for a second laying production is called a molt. Chickens do not produce eggs when they are growing their new feathers.
The hen will lay an egg each day in it's nest. The eggs are fertile, but the hen isn't setting on the nest yet, so the chicks don't start to grow. When the hen decides to set on the eggs, she stops laying eggs, and just stays on the ones in her nest. The warmth and moisture from her body start the chicks growing. It takes around 21 days until the eggs hatch.
I assume the question is about hens and eggs? In which case, calcium is needed in a laying ration to help the hen lay eggs with a strong shell.
They eggs will be fertilized about a week after the rooster consistantly starts to mount the female.
Yes, removing non-fertile eggs from a laying hen's nesting area is recommended. This helps prevent the eggs from accumulating and potentially breaking, which can attract pests and lead to unsanitary conditions in the coop.
The egg came before the hen; because dinosaurs had been laying eggs before hens(chickens) had even evolved.
