That normally happens when it is getting old and has loosened over time. Mine did exactly the same. Most pet stores will sell them.
Find a hamster and try it. I recommend you didn't because that would be REALLY painful for the hamster :/
There isn't really an answer for this question really. Basicly it depends on if your hamster is used to seeing your face... but what i'd say is yhh. It would worrry the hamster because its so small and your so big!! x XD
To be honest I don't think it really matters. I always had clear because I think that it is better for the hamster to see where the are going.
