Where did the peach originate?

I've seen on other websites where people say they from Spain, china and Georgia. I'm a Gardner and know a lot of what comes from where and I can not be sure exact place/country they are from but some where in Asia, hope you have better luck in finding more info on them! :)

peaches come from California and Georgia. both of these states are also called the peach states. if you look at a picture of Georgia, it normally has a peach on it.
