Mangos basically require a frost free climate. Like in the California Central Valley. So you should probably look for an origin in southeast Asia, perhaps Burma/Myanmar, as it is particularly frost free there. But some say Sudan, e.g., central Africa, though the largest diversity of wild varieties would now be found in southeast Asia, pointing to an origin there. As the first person suggested, this is a frost free climate, and in that way like the California central valley and south Florida, if you have a particularly US-centric view of the world (wink.) But if you are a little more of a historian, think of Burma, Bangladesh, northeastern India, as well as a proliferation of varietals in the Malay peninsula and the islands beyond.
