Pre-plated food is not formal service or waiting. It may be served from either side.
Silver service is not pre-plated and always served to the guest from his or her left.
A fine dining restaurant is a fancy and procedural place to eat. When serving in a fine dining restaurant, the food is served on the left and cleared on the right.
according to what I've learned from my professor... food is served at the left side of the guest... beverage at the right...
In Russian service, the food is served from the guest's left side. This method involves the server holding the platter in their left hand and serving the food to the guest using a serving utensil in their right hand.
No...usually, no. Serving food from the left is actually the incorrect way to serve. It stems back from Butler style service in which the butler would present food items that were on a platter, to the dinner guest, from the left. From here the dinner guest would choose which food pieces they would like to dine on. Then, either the guest would remove the food from the platter, or the butler would serve the food from the platter. Bottom line: when serving food from a platter, the correct side of presentation is the left. Now a days we practice service a la russe. This is when the food item is prepared in full by the chef in the kitchen and presented to the guest...from the right. This is the correct way to serve food. In short, fully prepared food is delivered from the right, as are any liquids or soups poured table side. Bread or food items from a platter are delivered from the left.
depends if is plate service serve on the right and clear from the right if is platter serve then empty plate or soup bowl is put in front of the guest on the right and the food is served from the left side and clear from the right this is the basic answer
Right
Well I'm left handed but with hard food chew with my right and for soft food I chew with my left.
If memory serves me, the rule is always, "Serve (food and drink) from the left; take (dirty dishes, glassware) from the right. Just depends on how correct you need to be with those enjoying your hospitality. Maybe you should consider a buffet-style meal.
appetizer soup salad main course dessert tea/coffee after dinner drinks
no, you dont use the same part of your brain to chew as you do to write
Food can be served "family style" where all the meat servings are on one platter, all the side dish servings or salad servings are in large bowls and each person serves themselves from there.Another style is "plated", like in a restaurant, where individual servings of the meat and side dishes are put onto one plate per person.A third way is "buffet style" where larger quantities of food are set out on a long table with plates and utensils at hand and people serve themselves or attendants serve them onto the plates as they pick which items they want.
Right hand is generally the side you serve from in a restaurant setting
