Why Muhammad started Islam?

He was commanded by Allah the Almighty to convey the message of Islam after being chosen as the last prophet from Him to the mankind.

Islam was not started by prophet Muhammad (PBUH). It was started by God since the start of universe creation. Islam is an Arabic word that means in its universal sense full submission and surrender to God (Allah in Arabic) and hence it was the faith and religion from the universe creation date. Islam per Torah revelation by God to prophet Moses is called Judaism. Islam per The Bible revelation by God (same God) to prophet Jesus is called Christianity. Islam per Quran revelation by God (same God) to prophet Muhammad is called the same name Islam. All God prophets since Adam; through Noah, Abraham, Ismael, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, ..., Jesus, and Muhammad (peace be upon them all) call for Islam or ; in another words, call for submission to God as the one and only one God with no partner, no son, no companion, no associate, and no equivalence.
It was not he who started Islam. All the prophets of Almighty Allah (God) had been preaching Islam. Islam was revealed to him. He was the last Prophet of Islam.

Islam began by start of universe creation to call people for full submission and surrender to God. All God prophets called their followers to Islam. Islam per Torah is called Judaism. Islam per the Bible is popularly called Christianity. Islam per Quran is called by the same name Islam as it is the last God message to people.
Allah Almighty created humans and arranged for their guidance. Islam is the guidance and right path for humans. Satan misleads and misguides humans. Allah sent Prophets to guide humans to the right path.

Islam was neither FOUNDED nor DEVELOPED by some person. Islam is the religion given to mankind by the Creator, Almighty God. All the holy Prophets (May peace be upon them all) preached Islam. The last Prophet Hazrat Muhammad Mustafa (SAW) started preaching Islam at the age of 40, in 570 AD in Makka, Arabia. Islam is based on human nature and preaches universal human brotherhood.The basic belief of Islam is ONENESS of Almighty God Who is the Sole Creator, Sustainer, Provider and Ruler of all the worlds. He has no Son, no Parents, No Partner. He is Unique, Nothing is like Him. He is the CREATOR, all others are His CREATURES.

Prophet Mohammad (p.b.u.h.) did not create Islam.

But the revelation of God was sent to him after he reached 40 years of age.

Islam has been the religion of all the prophets sent by God.

With his holy book the QURAN which was revealed to Prophet Mohammad (p.b.u.h.) GOD Almighty perfected and completed the religion of Islam.

Prophet Ibrahim "Abraham" the father of all monotheistic religions was a Muslim and believed in one God.

Prophet Adam believed in one God and was a Muslim.

Prophet Mohammad (p.b.u.h.) was chosen by GOD to be the last of all prophets till the day of judgment and God chose Islam as the divine religion to be practiced till the day of judgment.

In Islam, Mohammed is not seen to be the founder of Islam, but the final prophet in a long succession of prophets. However, Muslims have often asked themselves why God chose Mohammed as his final prophet. The answer that is usually given is that during this period, the Arabs needed unity to stop killing one another. By using Mohammed in 7th century Arabia, God was able to bring peace and brotherhood to those people.

He is messenger of God and delivered the message of God (Quran) revealed to him to humans. he is not founder. he did not write anything all over his life. he was illiterate and was a shepherd and worker for a trader before becoming messenger at age 40. but he was a very honest man. at that time no bank existed and when people wanted to go travel spent their money and golds to Muhammad SAWW to keep them. he was known as the Muhammad the trusted before being chosen as messenger by God.

Well the word Islam came to life after Muhammad started to teach about the revelations from the Quran - but as a matter of fact - no one "started" Islam.

Islam is regarded to be the concealment of the traditional chain of monotheistic faith - which roots to the first biblical human figures Adam and Eve. The chain includes all the patriarchs, apostles or prophets that we hear stories of - like King Solomon, King David, Noah, Joseph, Job, Jonas - and many more.

But most importantly the idea of God as a single unimaginable entity is more shaped with Abraham. His sons Isaac and Ishmael kept on promoting the same ideals throughout their children. From Isaac's family came Moses and Jesus - who brought on a rather permanent faith systems which we know today as Judaism and Christianity. While from Ishmael's family came Muhammad - who actually based on Quran promoted a rather developed, precise and modern ideals all related to Jewish traditions - which also relate with Christianity.

Muhammad - mostly like Abraham, left his aristocratic family just to promote peace and justice. It doesn't matter how Taliban or Al Qaeda treats human being today - but Muhammad was a just ruler - who promoted equal rights - opposed slavery and supported the basic principle of democracy. He urged to do more researches, to find what "God has hidden beneath His Earth."

Such views and ideals were obviously anti-Arab for those days - and difference is something that provokes you to make a positive change. And of course, when he got his first 'revelation' from archangel Gabriel - he was scared - all know that - meaning he was chosen to continue the tradition in a new and modern way. Different ideals turned it to a new faith (remember Christianity?). For example, Islam promoted scientific researches - and now we have algebra, alchemy and a developed medical science. On the contrast the then Church opposed scientific theories as 'anti-God.'

It's a shame that we have different faiths - especially for the fact that there are 'faiths' of Judaism, Christianity and Islam. It could have been one big Abrahamic Faith, but I guess it's too late to start-over. Still we can live together - with traditions, love and peace - and of course with tolerance. God loves them who loves each other - that's what we all believe.

Islam was not 'made' by Hazrat Muhammad (SAW). According to the belief of the Muslims, all the Prophets of Almighty Allah (God) preached Islam. It is a heavenly religion like Judaism and Christianity.

According to Muslims, Muhammad was simply the final prophet in a long legacy of prophets, the first of which was Adam. As a result, to argue that Muhammad started Islam makes no sense to Muslims and even less so why he would have started Islam. Muhammad was simply following a track laid by numerous prior prophets.

Conversely, secular individuals who hold that Muhammad was founding a new religion have suggested various reasons for his doing so, but none are proven with any degree of accuracy:

• To unite the fractured peoples of Arabia under one banner to prevent enmity and conflict.
• To protect the rights of ethnic minorities and women from the vast abuses under the pagans.
• To create an Arab monotheistic faith.
• To achieve his own political goals.
• Because he was suffering from epilepsy and wanted to explain what was happening to him.
