In 1962, the Mashed Potato was a dance move popularized by Dee Dee Sharp's song "Mashed Potato Time". It resembled the Twist which was developed by Chubby Checker. Bobby "Boris" Pickett used a variation of the Mashed Potato for dancing to his hit "Monster Mash".
