Why do Syrian hamster stare?

I have a hamster and I understand how creepy it might get for your hamster to stare at you. Yet it is nothing weird. Hamsters do not have great vision so when it stares at you it is probably trying to get a better picture of what you look like or what your doing.

Not sure what you're referring to? I've personally never heard or seen a syrian hamster do anything that could be considered 'freaking out'. If they get scared or confused it will make them very uncomfortable and they might make a squealing sound, but that's all I've ever seen one do.

Syrian hamsters like all hamsters are very territorial and must be housed separately unless you get them from the same litter

Because wild hamsters live on burrows under the ground, it's their instict to dig.
