Why does your betta fish have a white mark?

Has it been in any fights of accidents? If it has a white mark and it has been in a fight it is a wound that is healing. If not it may well be an infection of some kind. Hope that helps

Whitespots on a fish's scales are that of the parasitic crustacean: Ichthyophthirius multifilis. These parasites burrow into the flesh of your fish and feed off them. Once they have had enough they drop off down into the gravel of the aquarium where they lay more eggs and the cycle continues. The annoying thing about this parasite is that by the time you can see them on your fish they have grown a protective shell around themselves and cannot be killed by medication at this stage- however you can kill those who have not developed their shell yet. And, for those who did- their lifespan is only about a month's time so eliminating this parasite is possible as long as proper action is taken.
